A scoring correction Monday cost Kettle Run’s girls the championship that they thought they won Saturday, but the Cougars still claimed the boys title of the Holiday Hundreds Invitational at the Prince William Aquatic Complex in Manassas.
Kettle Run’s boys amassed 155 points to win the 10-event meet that featured mostly 100-yard races, beating second-place Fauquier (115 points) while Brentsville placed third (107) with Manassas Park fifth (62) and Liberty 11th (3). Kettle Run’s girls finished with 157 points after the scoring correction, so they placed second behind Sherando (159.5) with Brentsville third (103.5), Fauquier eighth (26), Liberty ninth (16) and Manassas Park 10th (6).
Jack Cataneo led Brentsville by winning the 100 free (50.90) and placing fourth in the 100 breast (1:06.77) with Benjamin Huffman third in the 200 IM (2:03.49) and 100 back (57.29). Ryan Cunningham finished third in the 100 free (51.48) and 100 fly (55.80) with Andre Mickus sixth in the 100 breast (1:13.77).
For the Tigers’ girls, Charlotte Pizzillo tied for fourth in the 100 fly (1:07.10) and took fifth in the 100 free (2:26.36), while Cassie Rozman placed fourth in the 100 breast (1:20.56) with Isabel Bae sixth in the 100 free (1:00.29) and Caitlyn Moore eighth in the 100 free (1:00.36).
For Manassas Park, Brayden Wence finished fifth in the 100 fly (1:02.24) and seventh in the 200 IM (2:20.59) with Ryan Harlan sixth in the 100 back (1:04.48).
